Wayside Chapel is a regional level ministry that will allow you to minister to our immediate church family of almost 2,000, but also to impact the City of San Antonio, Texas and beyond. JOB DESCRIPTION
Pastor of College and Singles

MINISTRY PURPOSE:
To provide godly leadership in developing, implementing, administrating and shepherding comprehensive programs for college students and single adults in order to develop reproducing followers of Jesus Christ in accordance with God’s Word, the Statement of Faith, Constitution, Vision and Core Values of Wayside Chapel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A personal relationship with and love for the Lord that is growing and a desire to see others have this relationship.
• Spiritual and moral character with a lifestyle that is consistent with the scriptural qualifications for an elder as outlined in 1 Tim. 3:1-7, Tit. 1:5-9 and 1 Pet. 5:1-4 and the Wayside Chapel Constitution and By-laws.
• Agreement with and commitment to the Statement of Faith of Wayside Chapel.
• Commitment to moral purity and, if married, to a healthy relationship with his wife and family.
• Personal maturity, spiritual gifts, and breadth of experience to serve in a teaching and mentoring role with college students and single young adults ages 18 to mid 20s, while also developing and providing leadership to a ministry team for an older single adults ministry.
• Prior young adult ministry experience required: either vocational or substantive and verifiable volunteer experience. References must include contacts that can give clear testimony of effective young adult ministry experience.
• Bachelors degree required, as well as formal ministry training at either the seminary or Bible college/school level. Training from other recognized Christian organizations may be considered in satisfaction of the formal ministry training requirement.
• Be competent in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships to develop and work with a team to execute strategic goals in a mutually supportive and edifying manner to fulfill the ministry vision of Wayside Chapel.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
• Work closely with and under the direct supervision of the Executive Pastor to prepare, conduct and evaluate the college and single adult ministries of the church.
• Build relationships that lead to discipleship with college and single adults.
• Provide opportunities throughout the week for building community and spiritual growth among college and single adults.
• Organize, promote and participate in college and single adult activities, including fellowships and retreats.
• Communicate college and single adult ministry events, activities, and news with staff, volunteers, church and community.
• Develop, organize, and oversee college and single adult leadership development and teams.
• Develop, implement and oversee a program of outreach to participants in the college and single adult ministries and prospective members in the church and community.
• Lead social and appreciation events for volunteers and participants in the college and single adult ministries.
• Cultivate and promote relationships with parents of the college students and younger single adults.
• Provide pastoral care and counseling for college and single adults.
• Work closely with the entire pastoral staff to minister to the Wayside body through one-on-one discipleship, counseling, evangelism, hospital visitation and friendship.
• Prepare and oversee the college and single adult ministry budgets and recommend needed resources.
• Maintain needed office hours and attend all pertinent staff, ministry, departmental meetings and retreats and actively contribute through sharing ideas and prayerful support to improve all aspects of the ministries of Wayside Chapel.
• Provide ongoing evaluation of discipleship and assimilation processes for college and single adult ministries and update systems and goals for these areas.
• Research current trends and improvements in college and singles ministry methods and cast ‘visionary’ ideas to the Senior Pastor, church leadership and college and singles’ ministry leadership teams to meet the needs of our ministry.
• Represent the college and single adult ministries to the Elder Board.
• Build relationships with the church community at large in the interest of developing unity in the body of Christ in San Antonio and beyond.
